Laytonville Fire Department is pleased to present 19 local fire department volunteers who just completed the EMT (emergency medical technician) class. Agencies represented were Covelo, Laytonville, Leggett, Piercy and Willits. Following 15 weeks of training. A few more weeks of written exams will complete their certification.

Piercy Volunteers Drew and Sarah Cardoza completed the course of study and says "We still have to pass the National Registry and get licensed through our local EMS Agency. It's quite a process. We're almost there, but just not quite yet. We have successfully completed the program, but that's just the first giant step in our journey."
Piercy Fire Protection District Larry Casteel says, "Congratulations. A positive upgrade for our Piercy Volunteer First Responders. Thank you for your dedication to our Fire Department and our community."
The class was taught by Assistant Chief Greg Smith with support from the Coast Life Support District. Our communities are safer thanks to the commitment of these volunteers and the skills they have acquired.
